Our group had an especially organised tour in English with a former Army Major, now caving expert as our guide. He was perfect for explaining the unusual military history of the caves, as well as the palaeontological & geological significance of the Výpustek cave system. Absolutely fascinating, & I look forward to a return visit, because there is so much more detail we could have covered.
I enjoyed the tour and the views. I was the only English speaking person in my party, and I followed along with the description on the app I downloaded. The tour guide seemed to be talking well (tho I couldn’t understand him) and was aware I didn’t speak Czech, just English. When it came for the group to split (based on short or long tour) he made no effort to make sure I understood where I needed to go. When I asked him politely in English he looked really annoyed that I didn’t understand him. He asked which tour I had purchased and then told me which cue to join, with a roll of the eyes. I just felt he made no effort for me and his attitude towards foreigners wasn’t exactly what would attract tourism. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to see his name, but I can say he was a young male, tall, long dark wavy hair.
I totally enjoyed exploring and learning about the caves, just a shame the guide didn’t see that interested in making sure I had questions or understood.
